New Truancy Laws

In the Texas Tribune, there is an article about a young girl with cerebral palsy who just can't go to school sometimes because of medical reasons. Her mother was upset because they made her go to truancy court due to her daughters absences. She states, “This is a child who loves school, but just can’t go sometimes." She is currently fighting to change the laws of truancy.

They have changed the bill, calling for the districts to have some sort of truancy officer that let's the people know before they have to go to court. That's a great idea because it'll definitely help them in knowing how many more times they can miss school without getting fined.

while, yes it's unfair for the kids with medical needs, I don't think the laws should change substantially. If they become flexible, more and more students may start missing school, resulting in an even bigger problem. Yes, there are kids who can't go because of medical problems, but I feel like they could just make a law for them. If they take that route, this law could work. However, I feel like the laws are fine and they seem to keep (for the most part) kids in school. And if the parents don't like it, then their kids should be home schooled.

Replying to 'Text From A True Texan'

I've been trying to figure out why people in this state don't understand this[Legalize for Rights, Not Morals] And she has cleared it all with religion. Most of Texas is filled with religious people and are disgusted by the fact that there are people who are attracted to the same sex. They're not worried about how they make them feel when they bash them infront of others, all they care about is what the Bible says about it. But the Bible also states "Do others as you would have them do to you".
No one should be treated differently just because they like different things. And I think she explain that very well when saying:
"They just want those who do not recognize to recognize they are just as much functional people in this society: who work, pay taxes, have kids who are in public schools, who suffer from illness."
It's just baffling how we live in a state that still lives in the 18th century and follows customs that even back then were cruel. The majority of Modern society in Texas is screwed up because they are so conservative. I really hope that one day they open up their minds and finally pass a law to legally let the same sex be together because we are all equal and should be treated that way.
